ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK- August 25, 2017 – The Diocese of Rockville Centre announces its second annual “Exercise for Others” event. In its inaugural year, Exercise for  Others raised more than $30,000 for the needy in our community.

The fundraiser will take place on October 28, 2017 and involves teams spinning (indoor cycling) or Zumba (new this year) at three popular Long Island gyms.  Money raised will go to Parish Outreach and Catholic Charities’ programs that assist those in need in our community.  The event was created not only to raise money for families and individuals who are struggling, but also as a vehicle to build a community-wide activity that would raise awareness of the great need on Long Island.

Participating parish teams will receive 50 percent of all dollars their teams raise to be used for their local Parish Social Ministry.  The remaining 50 percent will be restricted to Catholic Charities’ programs that do the same great work of serving the needy in our Diocese.

Individuals, companies and other organizations will have the opportunity to register their Spin or Zumba teams at They can customize their team page and keep a tally of how much they have raised.  Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. The funds they raise will be distributed to Diocesan programs that serve families and individuals in need.
