Diocese of Rockville Centre Announces Repositioning of Office of Institutional Advancement

Barbara Kilarjian appointed new director of Office of the Catholic Ministries Appeal

Barbara KilarjianROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – January 31, 2018  –  The Diocese of Rockville Centre ( announced today a repositioning of the Office of Institutional Advancement.  The new office will be called the Office of the Catholic Ministries Appeal, Diocese of Rockville Centre.
“Office of the Catholic Ministries Appeal accurately captures the Office’s current and anticipated core fundraising operations and positions the office to support dramatic missionary growth in the Diocese of Rockville Centre,” said Thomas Renker, Chief Operating Officer, Diocese of Rockville Centre.
The Office of the Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) will include an Office of Stewardship, will continue to provide parish fundraising support and will begin to explore new fundraising initiatives to enhance the CMA and parish development. 

Barbara Kilarjian has been promoted to serve as Director, Office of the Catholic Ministries Appeal.  Kilarjian has served since 2007 as the Director of Marketing and Development for CMA under Enes Carnesecca, who retired as Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement at the conclusion of 2017.
“I am very excited to be working with our COO, Thomas Renker, to help support the implementation of Bishop Barres’ vision for dramatic missionary growth on Long Island,” said Kilarjian.

The CMA is a vital source of support for the ministries and offices of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, helping to enable the Catholic Church on Long Island to feed the hungry, provide religious education for children, strengthen parishes throughout the diocese, form future priests and deacons and provide funding for Catholic Charities’ programs and services.

Rounding out the Catholic Ministries Appeal team is Kathy Scarallo, who has been appointed Development Manager and Maggie Gagliardi, who has been named Donor/Office Manager.

Barbara Kilarjian has more than 20 years-experience working in not-for profit organizations that are dedicated to the service of others.  Formerly, Kilarjian served as the Vice President of Development for Abilities, an organization dedicated to the inclusion of people with disabilities into the workplace and marketplace. Kilarjian served as the Marketing Director for the National Business and Disability Council working with leading corporations in developing Best Practices in the hiring of people with disabilities in compliance with the ADA.  Prior to her not-for-profit experience, Ms. Kilarjian worked in the Fashion Industry on the front lines of getting companies engaged in cause-related marketing.
