Diocese of Rockville Centre

ROCKVILLE CENTRE - The Diocese of Rockville Centre is once again offering a special Day of Reconciliation on the Monday of Holy Week, April 5. Every parish in the diocese will have priests available that day from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to hear confessions. This is in addition to the regularly scheduled times the sacrament is available at each parish.
This special day offers all Catholics, even those who have been away from the Church, an additional opportunity to “get right with God, get right with yourself” by receiving God’s loving forgiveness of our faults and transgressions through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Monsignor Ronald Hayde of the Office of Worship explains that we need to go to confession because “we all have a few blind spots in our vision. The Sacrament of Penance is not about guilt, but about forgiveness and healing.” He added that,
“We can easily be deceived into thinking the little ‘sins’ we commit are outweighed by the good we do. If we look honestly at our lives, we realize there is some bad and some failures.”

This is the fifth consecutive year that the Diocese of Rockville Centre has set aside a day during Lent when all parishes offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the same time.

If Catholics have any questions regarding the Sacrament or the Day of Reconciliation, they can contact any Catholic Church for further information.
