Bl. Pier Giorgio was not one to ask “Why me?  Why should I have to do it?” when it came to serving others.  He often sacrificed vacations at the family’s summer home because, as he said, "If everybody leaves Turin, who will take care of the poor?"  He took responsibility for his life and lived up to his obligations as a follower of Christ.

We can emulate Pier Giorgio when we fight against our inner “let someone else do it” voice.  We are that someone!  By virtue of our baptism, we are anointed to reach out to others and show them Christ’s love.  Whether it is checking in on a sick neighbor or helping an overwhelmed young mother, befriending a teen in trouble or visiting an elderly friend, it is up to us, individually, to answer the call to “love thy neighbor.”

Today, let us ask the Holy Spirit to help us be the peacemaker, be the friend, be the comforter, be the Saint, be JESUS for someone in need.

Bl. Pier Giorgio, pray for us!
