My heart radiates the Love of Christ's Sacred and Merciful Heart.

St. Faustina Kowalska
At 33 years old, the same age as her Savior when He was crucified, Sr. Maria Faustina of the Blessed Sacra-ment was called home to God from a convent in Krakow, Poland. This young nun, with only three years of formal education, had held a secret deep within her: a relationship with God which few could rival, and which bore witness to His tender mercy.

Born on August 25, 1905, Helen Kowalska was the third of ten chil-dren born to very poor peasants. Her struggling family needed her help, so even though she begged to enter a convent when she was 16, she faith-fully obeyed her parents and went to work to help support them. God loves obedience, and she was blessed when several years later she was free to follow her call. She entered the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, and was given the tasks of working in the kitchen, the vegetable garden and answering the door.

She was simple and unpretentious, worked hard and was known for her kindness. No one at the Convent sus-pected her interior life had been tilled by the hand of God and was blossom-ing. She began to receive revelations from Christ where He spoke of His merciful love for all. These she recorded in a diary (“Divine Mercy in my Soul”), which she had to write phonetically because of her lack of education: “In the evening, when I was in my cell, I became aware of the Lord Jesus clothed in a white garment. One hand was raised in blessing, the other was touching the garment at the breast. From the opening of the garment at the breast there came forth two large rays, one red and the other pale. In silence I gazed intently at the Lord; my soul was overwhelmed with fear, but also with great joy. After a while Jesus said to me, „paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the inscription: Jesus, I trust in You.‟”

This was the beginning of the cult of Divine Mercy, a beautiful devotion which brings to people the grace of being re-united with God through the blood of Christ and the water of our Baptism.

How can a work of art do this? “Not in the beauty of the color, nor of the brush lies the greatness of this image, but in My grace.” (St. Faustina’s diary). “First, by itself an image is merely a painting, no matter how beautiful and expressive. Yet, it can point us to the mysteries of the faith and dispose us to grasp and receive what it represents, in this case the Divine Mercy. It is thus a vessel, not the source, a reminder, not the reality. The reality is the merciful fountain of grace flowing from the pierced Heart of Christ on the Cross, and flowing out visibly to repre-sent the visible, that is the sacramental, signs of grace, Baptism and Eucharist, standing for all the sacraments of the Church.” (

Notebook I

"O Eternal Love, You command Your Sacred Image to be painted And reveal to us the inconceivable fount of mercy, You bless whoever approaches Your rays, And a soul all black will turn into snow. O Sweet Jesus it is here You establish the throne of Your mercy. To bring joy and hope to sinful man. From your open Heart, as pure from a pure fount, Flows comfort to a repentant heart and soul. May praise and glory for this Image Never cease to stream from man's soul. May praise for God's mercy pour from every heart, Now, and at every and at every hour and forever and ever.

O My God

When I look into the future, I am frightened, But why plunge into the future? Only the present moment is precious to me, As the future may never enter my soul at all. It is no longer in my power to change, correct or add to the past; For neither sages nor prophets could do that. And so what the past has embraced I must entrust to God.

O present moment, you belong to me, whole and entire. I desire to use you as best I can. And although I am weak and small, You grant me the grace of Your omnipotence. And so, trusting in Your mercy, I walk through life like a little child, offering You each day this heart Burning with love for Your greater Glory. "

the Chaplet of Divine Mercy "...For The Sake Of His Sorrowful Passion, Have Mercy On Us And On The Whole World!"

St. Maria Faustina, in all her simplicity, was able to absorb a complex doctrine of faith and share it in a way which can benefit all people. Surely she is “the Apostle of Divine Mercy”. (The Apostles of Divine Mercy is a movement of priests, religious and lay people inspired by St. Faustina. It was approved in 1996 by the Archdiocese of Krakow and is active in 29 countries today.)
