"My thirst and hunger do not diminish after I have received Him in the Blessed Sacrament, but rather, increase steadily.  Oh, how sweet was the conversation I held with Paradise this morning.  The Heart of Jesus and my own, if you will pardon my expression, fused.  They were no longer two hearts beating, but only one.  My heart disappeared as if it were a drop in the ocean." (St. Padre Pio)

If we have a hunger for holiness, then we should have a hunger for the Eucharist.  For if we truly believe that Christ is present Body, Soul and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament, what would keep us away?  Who else can we receive such nourishment from, such life?

If we can "see" Jesus hidden in bread and wine, if we can have the faith to trust that our God comes to us in this way, then surely we will see Him in our sisters and brothers; surely we will have encounters with Christ everywhere and every moment.  Padre Pio also said: "Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of the bread, so that the Eucharistic Communion be the light which disperses the darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart."

In this holy season of Christmas, let us hunger for Christ and not for the things of this earth.  Come to Mass, and have your own sweet conversation with Paradise!

St. Padre Pio, pray for us!
